A Seasonal Double Agent

Some drinks are festive. This one is functional.

I didn’t set out to love a cinnamon whiskey cocktail (I love both of those things separately, but have mixed feelings on the combination). Connamon whiskey and I have historically agreed to coexist at a distance. But this drink doesn’t ask for lyalty. I seduced me through warmth, restraint, and the quiet miracle of making something I haven’t historically cared for taste good.

This drink is dressed like Halloween but behaves like winter. A fraud. A seasonal double-agent, if you will.

It’s not spooky so much as elemental. Fire, fruit, bitterness, and a little sweetness held in check. The kind of drink you make when the light disappears early and the house smells faintly of smoke and apples. Halloween can keep the marketing, but this belongs to winter (at least for me). To surviving the dark without pretending it’s cheerful.

I’ll drink it through Yule. Out of spite, if nothing else.

Quick note, I found it on Pinterest, but the TikTok handle is on the image (so the TikTok item is linked to the image).
